A recent baby shower gift...

As most of you know - when I'm invited to baby showers I already know what I'm giving the mother-to-be... personalized THANK YOU cards. I had also made the invites for this shower - so I had an idea what color scheme the family was going with for their first little girl... however, until she opened the present I had no idea she was also decorating with butterflies. So these cards were simply meant to be.

I hope she send me one! I love receiving my own cards in the mail! ;-D

Recent swap... my meager offering...

I decided to participate in a recent swap. However, I'm a total and complete slacker. The purpose of the swap was to use some of SU die cuts ... which I somehow interpreted into using anything that goes along w/ the Big Shot. So, I ordered some of the SU-exclusive Texturz Plates. However, they didn't arrive in time (backorder situations are so annoying) and I almost forgot about the swap. I was leaving town for a retreat and needed to get my envelope out in the mail so I wouldn't keep the rest of the group waiting.

So I threw up on my craft table... err, I mean, I sat down at my craft table and threw this together in no time. Ok, ok - it's kinda cute... but I had grander visions in my head for this swap. I apologized profusely to the other swap participants... but we'll see how long it takes for them to allow me to participate again. Hmph...

5 minute card...

Again - catching up w/ some cards I haven't blogged. I don't know what happened to my blog burst. Maybe I can blame it on Facebook. I joined Facebook a few months back... and have been very close to addiction. In the meantime I've found lots of junior high and some high school friends, even an former boyfriend or two - catching up has been fun. Reconnecting with more recent friends has been even more inspiring... and I needed some quick cards to put in the mail.

I made about a dozen of these cards... with different sentiments inside. Some were "thank you's", some were for birthdays, others were just to say HI! Fun and quick card...

Colors: Almost Amethyst, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Whisper White
Other: White grosgrain ribbon, Hodgepodge Hardware flower ribbon slide, small Niji waterbrush, stampin' dimensionals, Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots embossing folder and Oval die cuts

Color inspiration? Commercial on TV...

So, I was watching tv while putting together a new stamp set (this one) and had a moment of inspiration - while watching a commercial

For the life of me I can't remember what product or service they were trying to sell. But it was a scene in a bar where two people were attracted to each other - and they met in the middle of the floor and started dancing to the background music. The colors in the commercial were so warm and dramatic - I just had to make a card or two. I sent one off to a friend... and kept one for myself. Just LOVE these colors! Can't wait for Fall to roll around so I can use them more...

I have a confession...

I haven't been doing too many cards lately... I'm on a kick to scrapbook. Check it out...

I'm re-doing one of those horrendous sticky page scrapbooks from 10 years ago. It's a trip I took for work - to live and and work in Geneva, Switzerland. The trip of a lifetime! I was there for four months - so enjoyed most of the surrounding areas on the weekends... and in style!

What fun to relive these memories! So until I finish this... maybe this weekend... there won't be many more cards made. I'm about half way done. I'm on a roll... get outta my way.

a lil' bit of fan mail...

Fan Mail: a card I will make again!

I had a few gals place online orders and wanted to drop something in the mail to them... but I want more of these to send out in the future... so yes, I'll be making more of these if I can find some more pearls... or something else half old fashioned, half retro to put on the card as an embellishment. Hmm... what will I find?

In the meantime, it's time to clean up the stamp room! I've been scrapbooking like crazy... more pics to come re this later... and it's time to act like an adult, take some responsibility and do some cleaning. Grr...
